The aim of this blog is to be a resource for places of scientific interest. There are now millions of people around the world trained in some scientific discipline. Whether they still work in that field is less important than that they have a scientific cultural background. The travel industry has many niches such as historical tours, cultural tours, wine tasting or eco-tours, and so on. I feel it is time to put science tourism on the map.
In Cities of Science you will find some obvious entries such as science centres and museums, as well as some not so obvious, such as statues, monuments and even objects of scientific interest that have found their way into establishments not formally related to science. In short, pretty much anything that the scientific traveller may find of interest.
By science, we are going to be fairly broad, obviously including the physical and biological science, as well as the mathematical sciences and computing. As to subject areas that include the word "science", such as political and social sciences, I am less sure and will personally not be searching for them, however, areas such as economics and finance may have a better case for inclusion.
It is going to take some time to get a significant number of entries, so if you have a place of scientific interest near you then let us know and we will include it.
Hope you enjoy browsing through our scientific heritage.
